Candida - and How to Beat it! (Erica White's Anti-Candida Four-Point Plan)
You probably feel that you're all alone with your problems, and that nobody understands you. Well, you couldn't be more wrong! It is estimated that one in three people in the Western World is suffering from symptoms caused by an overgrowth of a common yeast in the intestines - Candida albicans. Sadly, many of those people don't even know that their problems are caused by candida, so they're not even able to look for help.
Unfortunately, it seems very difficult to find a medical diagnosis, and yet candida can make you feel ill all over because it not only migrates from the gut to any other part of the body, causing a hundred-and-one different symptoms, but it releases large numbers of toxins (at least 79) which are literally poisoning you!
A list of typical candida symptoms might include the following. It's a long list - but it's by no means exhaustive! Read through these symptoms and see how many you identify with:
Gastrointestinal disturbances: nausea, abdominal pain, constipation, diarrhoea, irritable bowel syndrome, oesophagitis, intestinal gas and bloating.
Skin complaints: acne, eczema, psoriasis, dermatitis, athlete's foot, rectal irritation and general itchiness.
Respiratory tract problems: sinusitis, rhinitis, earache, headache, sore throat, sore mouth, asthma.
Musculo-skeletal and nervous system problems: Joint pain and/or stiffness, muscle pain, numbness, tingling.
Female problems: thrush, vaginal itching or soreness or discharge, premenstrual syndrome, menstrual irregularities, endometriosis, infertility, menopausal symptoms including hot flushes.
Male hormonal problems: impotence, infertility, lack of libido.
Urinary tract problems: frequency, urgency, pain.
Allergies to specific foods and/or environmental substances, e.g. sensitivity to perfumes/ chemicals/ animals/ dampness/ mould.
Immunity problems, giving rise to frequent bouts of flu or other virus infections.
Cravings for sugar, alcohol or other 'yeasty' foods such as bread or cheese.
Emotional problems: depression, anxiety, irritability, panic attacks.
Mental problems: poor memory, lack of concentration.
Fatigue and weakness. This is a good place to say that, in my work as a Nutritional Therapist over sixteen years, I became convinced that candida was playing a major role in every single case of Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (and there were many) which I dealt with.
If you are fortunate and candida has not yet progressed too far in its determination to invade your entire body, you might recognise that you have just one or two of these symptoms, but for many people - and maybe you're unfortunate enough to be one of them - their bodies have been virtually taken over by this internal enemy so that their lives are a misery of pain and ill-health. Because the picture presented is such a complex of symptoms, it is not too surprising that candidiasis largely goes unrecognised by members of the medical profession.
On this web site, you can read how I personally battled through a lifetime of health problems until the age of 53 - which was when, having discovered that candida was the root cause of my problems, I experienced a break-through! As a result, I trained for three years at the Institute for Optimum Nutrition in London, where I discovered the biochemical explanations for the effectiveness of the steps I had taken to beat candida into submission. When I became a Nutritional Therapist with my own clinic, I found that a tremendously wide range of health problems could be overcome with an effective anti-candida nutritional approach, because a healthy gastrointestinal tract is essential for the healthy working of the entire body. During sixteen years in practice, I gained more and more experience of how candida victims could regain their health. I have written books and articles about the subject and lectured widely on it. Now I want to share my strategy with you!
